Released in 2013 featuring 12 original tunes. Jim supplies all the writing and as always the strength of the songs remains in the storytelling. There are also some lovely cameo appearances by piano player John Soeder and viola wizard Michael “Doc” Dreyfuss. Tracks include uptempo numbers Rattlin’ Bones, Hillbilly Bill, Hatred, and Walk In My Shoes, along with some beautiful ballads like Precious Metal, Aftermath and Distant Shore. The disc closes with the lush, eight-minute presumptive title track, Falling Into Blue.

Cathy Miller lends her considerable musical talents on 12 of the 14 tracks. Among these jewels are her fiddle and vocals on the heartfelt I Was Lonely as well as her riveting fiddle solo on Run Lisa Run. Jim’s second live album includes 6 as yet unreleased songs including Cat’s Cradle, Welcome Home and Dreaming Indigo. It also contains a stirring rendition of John Bassette’s Oh How I Miss You recorded at the Beachland Ballroom in 2007. That night alto sax player Michael Swan joined Jim onstage for an amazing, completely unrehearsed duet. It was captured live on this recording and their performance brought down the house!

So Fine is the first release of Jim’s music. It features 12 original songs that span a spectrum of storytelling from poignant ballads like the epic, Luckyboy, a song evoking the bitter heartbreak of a coal mining family in Pennsylvania, to a farcical number about a guy outrunning the cops in a hovercraft. Jim recorded and produced the entire CD in an upstairs bedroom and played all the instruments, including an old washbasin that his mother had bathed in as a little girl! It’s worth it just to hear that!!
